THE ALLIED VICTORY MEANT THAT THE RIGHT COULD NO LONGER RESIST PROGRESSIVE CHANGE: COLLABORATION WITH THE NAZIS MEANT THAT ITS BACKERS WENT INTO HIDING OR WERE IMPRISONED OR SHOT
