DROP THE ANCESTORS, HAIL POWER!


THE FRENCH MONARCHY WAS EUROPE'S MOST POWERFUL, EVEN BEFORE LOUIS XIV. 

THEN HIS SPECTACULAR ENTRY AND ITS ITINERARY ANNOUNCED A STILL MORE MUSCULAR REGIME
(On August 26, 1660)

The celebrated illustrator Maurice Leloir granted that entry a rare double page in this history for children.  

The cortège came together in the east (where place de la Nation is now) and took the east-west trade route to enter Paris by the Saint-Antoine gate.

It continued along that route, which was relatively straight...
