NOW A STREET THAT IS PLEASANT AND PEDESTRIAN

MEDIEVAL VESTIGES AND ELEGANT 18TH-CENTURY HOUSES
IN A SETTING OF MODERN COOL

A hostel for pilgrims that was just within the rampart...

...and a passage that came to separate Catholic and Protestant graves:

The wealthiest merchants lived on this street...

...and steps away, arches highlight the "noble floor," because it has only one flight of stairs to climb over a courtyard for horses, carriages and kitchen:

Rue Greneta, to the right of rue Saint-Denis

The ambiance now is amiably commercial...

Corner, rues Saint-Denis and Greneta

...with small houses that give a sense of intimacy.

One block away, that changes.

End of this section.
