A RESTAURANT WHOSE ELEGANCE PROLONGS THE MOOD

TEMPTING AS LUNCH ON THE GARDENS' EDGE MAY BE,
THE TINY STREET BEHIND THEM LEADS TO A BETTER CHOICE

This restaurant stands out in a part of town that brands
and mediocrity sweep over.

Enter by pushing this door hard.

Garden entrance, 8 rue de Beaujolais
Main entrance, 15 rue des Petits-Champs
(More elegant, less surprising)

Traffic limits many terraces' appeal, but this microscopic, one-way street is almost empty of pedestrians and cars.

The very British Mark Williamson founded the establishment in 1997. His son Adrian, who is serving in the background, will succeed him.

I took the picture around 3 p.m. when most people had left, but even at the height of activity the distance between the tables favors conversation, not to mention health.

Excellent wine: Mr. Williamson also founded the well-known "Willi's Wine Bar" next door

The many outstanding restaurants in Paris
are usually much more expensive.
But what makes Macéo unique cannot be bought:
 Continuing Palais-Royal's elegant serenity.
